Gbongay Village Clinic

Gbongay village is situated in the Pujehun district of Sierra Leone. Twenty-one miles from the nearest hospital, the clinic plays a pivotal role in providing local healthcare and is overseen by the remarkable local NGO, Pujehun Deveolpment Organisation. The recent addition of a basic maternity unit enables women to give birth with dignity.

Friends of Freetown is delighted to work with this marvellous project. We funded the construction of the maternity unit, repairs to the village wells and the purchase and adaptation of the community ambulance. We also provide regular donations to contribute to the rolling supply of medicines and the wages of the ambulance driver.
