Ambulance for Gbongay Well at Gbongay

Gbongay village is situated in the Pujehun district of Sierra Leone. Twenty-one miles from the nearest hospital, the clinic plays a pivotal role in providing local healthcare and is overseen by the remarkable local NGO, Pujehun Deveolpment Organisation. The recent addition of a basic maternity unit enables women to give birth with dignity.

Friends of Freetown is delighted to work with this marvellous project. We paid for the installation of a pump for the clinic well and the construction of the maternity unit. We also provide regular donations to contribute to the rolling supply of medicines and the wages of the ambulance driver. We have recently provided funds to pay for the purchase and adaptation of a minibus that will be used as an ambulance for the community.
