Trust History

Friends of Freetown is a UK based, grant-giving charity working to benefit the people of Sierra Leone. We were created in 2009 with the immediate aim of helping to fund the construction of a community clinic. We currently give grants to:

We also collect donations of certain items (for example, laptops, printers, sewing machines) and pay the shipping costs where this is more cost effective than sending monetary grants.

We are a small charity, but passionately believe that we can make a difference.

Our constitution sets out the structure of how we operate.

You can also see our grant giving policy, and also our Privacy and data retention policy (GDPR compliant) as it applies to trustees, supporters and beneficiaries.

The current trustees are:

Amy Brookman (Chair), Natasha Gray (Vice Chair), Heather Hobday (Treasurer), Jeremy Brookman, Alison Giles, Andy Hobday, Heidi Russenberger, Peter Stephenson
